Swedish striker nets hatrick on debut in Chelsea victory

Chelsea won comfortably to progress in to the quarter final of the Women’s FA Cup, putting 6 past WSL 2 side Watford Ladies.

Blues manager Emma Hayes handed starts to new signings Niamh Fahey, Gemma Davison, Millie Bright and Marija Maredinho Banusic, as the 2012 runners up look to go all the way this season.

It took just ten minutes for Chelsea to take the lead through three-time Korean Footballer of the Year Ji So-Yun, who netted a brilliant effort from outside the box, after some neat play on the edge of the area.

They were 2-0 up within 15 minutes when debutants Davison and Banusic linked up with the latter confidently placing a precise shot into the corner of the net.

Davison then scored a goal of her own from the penalty spot to make it 3, after being brought down in the box by Watford defender Emily Heaslip.

With Watford tiring as the first half came to an end, Chelsea took advantage and Banusic bagged her second.

Following a deep looping cross from the right, the Swedish international was able to head home making the score 4-0 going in to the break.

Watford came out the blocks flying, starting the second half the better team. The WSL 2 side put in numerous amounts of crosses but Blues keeper Marie Hourihan proved to be a safe pair of hands, collecting well each time.

Chelsea eventually broke their second half drought and it was Banusic again, netting for the hatrick this time after being set up by England international Eni Aluko.

The Blues continued to put pressure on Watford and got their sixth goal with ten minutes remaining, new signing Millie Bright thumping her header in from a corner.

Chelsea will travel to holders Arsenal in the next round.
