BBC ramp up coverage of the new WSL season

The BBC look to continue their support of the top tier of women’s football by providing more coverage then ever of the new WSL season.

The Women’s Football Show, presented by Jacqui Oatley, returns to our screens on BBC Two and BBC Radio 5 live sports extra is scheduled to cover at least 14 live matches from now until the end of the season.

BBC will also be showing live games from the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada this summer.

The FA’s Director of National Game and Women’s Football, Kelly Simmons, told the WSL’s official site: “We are delighted that our partnership with the BBC continues to go from strength to strength.

“Their commitment to showcase top level women’s football across all their platforms is fantastic for the game. Our fans, along with newcomers to the game, will continue to enjoy unprecedented levels of women’s football coverage in what is an extremely exciting year.

“We have got a plan with our partners to develop high quality professional women’s football in England and our partnership with the BBC remains instrumental in helping us deliver on our ambition.”

5 live sports extra’s league broadcast began last week with Everton’s WSL 2 win at Aston Villa and the first Women’s Football Show will be shown at 11.20pm on Monday 30 March on BBC Two.

This season, the Women’s Football Show will first be available earlier in the evening on the BBC Red Button and will then be available on BBC iPlayer, before its network debut on BBC Two.
