Arsenal Ladies’ start their WSL 1 season at Meadow Lane against Notts County Ladies, the same side they played in their opening league fixture of 2014.
The Gunners will be hoping for a better start to their campaign this time out after they failed to win any of their first four games last year.
This will be Notts County second game of their new league campaign, one which they hope will bring them their first three points having lost to Chelsea in their opener on Sunday.
Striker Jess Sigsworth could make her WSL debut for Notts County, having been an unused substitute at the weekend.
However Pies manager Rick Passmoor is likely to start with Ellen White upfront, who will look to continue her impressive comeback from injury against her former employers.
The Gunners could also see some new faces making their WSL debuts, with the likes of Jemma Rose and Vicky Losada in contention for a spot in Pedro Martinez Losa’s side.
An old face could also make her first WSL appearance as Lianne Sanderson prepares for her second spell with Arsenal, after a period playing in the States, but her first taste of WSL action.
Both sides enjoyed comfortable victories in their recent FA Cup fixtureswith the Gunners beating local London rivals Millwall Lionesses 7-0 and the Lady Pies putting four past Tottenham with no reply.
Each club have also had five players called up to Mark Sampson’s England squad for the forthcoming international friendly against China.
Ahead of their league opener, Arsenal midfielder Jordan Nobbs spoke to the WSL website about how the Gunners want to improve on last year’s disappointing league finish.
“It’s really important to get off to a good start as we didn’t last year,” she said.
“This year we’ve got no excuses or setbacks with Pedro Martinez Losa coming in and hopefully that will show in our performances and can carry that into the start of the season.
“Notts County have signed quite a few new players, like we have, so they will pose a new challenge this year and it will be interesting to see how they play. You can’t take any team for granted in this league so they will be a tough test.”
