This Sunday Watford take on Millwall in the WSL 2 in a repeat of last season’s opening fixture which finished two-a-piece.
So far both sides have played three games in the league, but their fortunes could not have been more different.
Millwall currently lie 4th in the league following two draws and a 3-2 away win at Durham last time out, whereas Watford find themselves propping up the table having lost all three opening games of their campaign.
After strengthening their side over the closed season, Hornets manager John Salomon is hopeful results will improve as his new recruits show positive signs of beginning to gel. First-team coach Jackie Bushell feels the Easter break will also have helped the team.
“We had quite a tough first part of the season with four games close together. The Easter break has given us a little bit of time to recuperate and to build in some additional fitness work” said Bushell.
“We tried a new formation against Reading and it worked well in stages. With the longer time in between the Reading and Millwall games it’s given us a chance to refocus players, look at the strategy that we’re going to try and implement for the rest of the season and to build on that.”
Millwall went into the Easter break on a high following their win against Durham thanks to a brace from ‘Super Sub’ Lily Agg, who came on despite having been struggling with a hamstring injury.
Lionesses’ manager Dan Mlinar is looking to build on the result telling BBC Sport, “the challenge now is putting together back to back wins”.
