After drawing their previous two home games, Birmingham City will look to put on a show against league leaders Chelsea on Sunday at the Autotech Stadium.
David Parker’s side have had mixed fortunes when playing the other big teams in the WSL 1 this season, defeating Liverpool in the FA Cup before losing to the champions in the league, and having a late penalty saved against Notts County last time out to deny them their win of the season.
Chelsea however are unbeaten so far in 2015 and will look to make it four out of four in the championship against Birmingham.
Confidence will be high over in the Londoner’s camp after back-to-back away victories against Notts County and Bristol Academy saw Emma Hayes’ side soar to the top of the table before cementing their place with a 1-0 win over reigning champions Liverpool last weekend.
But City midfielder Jade Moore insists her opponents would be silly to get carried away.
“I’m sure winning the title will be Chelsea’s main aim, like ours, after coming so close to it last year,” she said.
“We’ve not had the best of starts but you can’t just look at the short term because in the long term you can go on runs of form that will change things.
“We started really well last year while Liverpool started badly but they came through strongly at the end and did enough to win the title.
“It’s going to be a long, hard season so you can’t write any teams off as it would be ridiculous to do so this early on.”
Moore’s side will be boosted by the return of striker Freda Ayisi who is available again after serving a three-match ban for her role in an altercation with Manchester City’s Karen Bardsley on the opening day.
But Ayisi may not get much joy in front of goal as Chelsea have only conceded three in their opening three fixtures and Laura Coombs said the clean sheet against Liverpool was the most important part of the result.
“We know we’re always going to score goals with the likes of Eniola Aluko up front but we need to back that up with clean sheets,” she said.
“Birmingham will be a very tough game because they are a very physical side and that’s a part of our game that we are driving to improve as well.
“In the second game we played against them last year, when we played at home, we played very well and we’ll be hoping to carry that over into this year.”
