Millwall look to leapfrog Yeovil with first home win

Millwall Lionesses, who haven’t lost a game in the WSL 2 yet this season, will host Yeovil Town Ladies this weekend in a clash of two of the league’s top teams.

Yeovil are currently third in the division and come into the game off the back of a 4-0 win over London Bees and a victory against title favourites Reading.

The Lionesses have only conceded three goals in five games but this will be their first game against a top three side, and the Glovers have scored 14 goals so far this season.

Corinne Yorston, herself already netting 4, told the WSL website: “It will be tough going to Millwall, we feel we know a bit about them so we are working on those things.

“We know it won’t be an easy game, but again because of the recent results and the way we are playing, we are confident in everything we do – we have good players, great staff and coaches, so we are always going to feel good.”

Despite having not lost a game in the league, the London side have only won one of their first five as they continue to struggle in front of goal.

Millwall midfielder Megan Goss said ahead of the fixture: “In some ways it is the decider for us and it will show how far we can go this season.

“If we can beat Yeovil then we can make the top three this year.

“Considering we are unbeaten so far this season, I’d say it’s gone well. We’ve had some tough tests and we know we’ve had games that we should have won, but it’s all a learning curve for us.”

The game kicks off on Saturday at 6.30pm with both teams looking to earn vital points in the promotion race as other rival contenders Reading and Everton battle it out earlier in the day.
