Inconsistent Liverpool hope for three points at Notts

This Sunday FA Cup finalists Notts County host current WSL 1 champions Liverpool Ladies with just two points separating the sides going in to the fixture.

Rick Passmoor’s County are on a run of 7 games unbeaten in all competitions and are the league’s top goal scorers, with a goals for tally of over double that of their opponents.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have suffered an inconsistent start to their title defence winning two and losing two, including a shock result at home to newly promoted Sunderland.

But captain Gemma Bonner is confident her side can retain the trophy despite their slow start.

“There’s a long way to go yet.” Bonner told BBC Sport.

“Anything can happen so we’re definitely confident within the group that we’ve got a good enough squad to go and win the league.”

“The first couple of games, we struggled for the performance levels we know we’re capable of,” she added. “We lost a lot of players in pre-season and we had new players come in as well.

“I think you can see with every game that we’re getting better and getting to know each other better. “I think there’ll be a lot of surprises between now and the end of the season.”

The Merseysiders could be boosted by the return to full fitness of winger Nicole Rolser although Ashley Hodson remains side-lined.

While Passmoor has no new injury concerns after his side’s victorious cup semi-final.
