After a break for the FA Cup semi-finals, both Aston Villa and Watford Ladies return to action this weekend.
These two sides met back in March in the reverse fixture which Villa won comfortably in front of a record crowd at Vicarage Road.
And the Villian’s head coach Joe Hunt is feeling optimistic his side can put in a repeat performance.
“Results-wise it hasn’t gone to plan at the start of the season but performance-wise we are doing well,” he told the official club website.
“We are creating so many chances this season, something we struggled with in 2014.
“We have so many attacking options now that when we do go forward we look a threat.”
Hunt’s side will be boosted by the return of Sherry McCue and Alicia Robinson who both benefited from last weekend’s break and have completed two weeks of solid training after returning from injury.
Watford boss John Salomon has a smiliar selection headache claiming the hardest part of Sunday’s fixture will be choosing his starting XI.
“The key thing at the moment for us is that we’ve got healthy competition for places,” said Salomon.
“We’ve got personnel fighting for places in every position, particularly upfront. That’s where we need to show improvement, we need to score more goals from open play. The players know that and recently we’ve been working hard on that.
“We’ve got five forwards available for the Aston Villa game that will want to be starting and obviously we can only start what fits the formation.”
Having only picked up one point so far this season and scoring just two goals, Salomon added, “You can see that the players have got that hunger and that desire to make amends because they’ve been working hard over the last couple of weeks, I’m really looking forward to Sunday.”
A win for Watford could see them climb off the bottom of the table while three points for their opponents could see them reach the dizzy heights of 4th.
