Durham Women finally return to New Ferens Park on Sunday – after playing 3 consecutive away games – where they will host Aston Villa in a mid table clash.
Villa currently lie 8th in the WSL2, a point behind Durham in 6th.
Both sides have had inconsistent seasons and will be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend.
Last time out, Aston Villa suffered a disappointing home defeat to struggling Watford, meanwhile Durham lost 1-0 to Oxford United.
Despite the recent defeat, Durham have progressed well this season and a win at the weekend could see them rise to 4th in the table.
Wildcats’ captain Sarah Wilson is confident in her side’s ability and believes a top four finish is within the club’s reach.
“The top four is where we want to be this year, we know we’ve got a young squad so we’re building towards the future but we are heading in the right direction,” said the defender.
Having played 3 consecutive games on the road, Wilson is looking forward to playing in front of a home crowd and believes her side do not fear Aston Villa.
“We know how much of a threat they pose in attack, so we need to pick it up at the back and finish our chances. We’re going to take the game to Villa because there’s nothing to be scared of.”
