England striker Fran Kirby is attracting the attention of FA WSL 1 sides, Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal after her performances at this year’s Women’s World Cup.
Kirby, who turned 22 whilst away with the England squad at her first World Cup, was the youngest player selected by Lioness boss Mark Sampson.
The Reading striker was the only player from the WSL 2 to make the final squad.
Kirby scored England’s first goal of the tournament in the 2-1 win over group rivals Mexico, prompting Sampson to call her England’s ‘mini Messi’.
Chelsea are the only one of the three rumoured interested parties to submit an official transfer bid for Kirby and with the deadline fast approaching the striker could attract a record fee of between £40,000 and £60,000.
Kirby gave up football aged 14 after the tragic death of her mother but returned two years ago, finishing the 2014 season as the WSL’s top goal scorer with an impressive 24 goals in 16 appearances. She then went on to become the first player to receive a professional contract from Reading FC.
