Today marks the deadline for the clubs of the Women’s Super League to sign any new additions to their squads for the remainder of the season. So we’ve rounded up who’s gone where.
Arguably the biggest transfer of the window goes to WSL 1 leaders Chelsea Ladies who have signed England striker Fran Kirby for a record transfer fee believed to be between £40,000 and £60,000 from WSL 2 side Reading FC Women.
The Royals do, however, see some new additions. Defender Nia Jones joins from Women’s Premier League side Cardiff City where she will link up with their other new signing Nicola Watts who opted for a move away from league strugglers Bristol Academy.
Bristol who are yet to win a league fixture so far this season have looked to strengthen their side dramatically during the summer break, bringing in the most amount of new faces. Signings include Scottish international Caroline Weir from Arsenal, Tatiana Pinto from Bundesliga club SC Sand, experienced Dutch defender Marije Brummel , striker Jade Boho Sayo and Bulgarian forward Evdokia Popadinova. Following the departure of substitute goalkeeper Alice Evans to WSL 2 side Yeovil Town, the Vixens have also brought in 20-year-old Hannah Reid who has played in between the sticks for Scotland at youth level.
It’s the case of one in one out over at Arsenal ladies FC as Spanish international Marta Corredera joins the Gunners from Barcelona and goalkeeper Siobhan Chamberlain is loaned out to Notts County until the end of the season.
Sunderland, Liverpool and Manchester City have all dipped in to the international market as they look to finish their 2015 campaign strongly. Norway Under 23’s goalkeeper Hilde Gunn Olsen as joined the North East outfit, while midfielder Daphne Corboz has moved across the Atlantic to pull on the blue of Manchester and New Zealand striker Rosie White has opted for a move to the current champions.
Over in the WSL 2, Durham have added two additions to their squad, signing forward Natalie Gutteridge from Sunderland and Nicki Gear on a three year scholarship from West Alabama, while Doncaster Rovers Belles have announced they’ve signed former Yeovil Town Ladies and Bristol Academy defender Jade Lorton-Radburn as they push for promotion to the WSL 1.
