Saturday
Reading FC Women vs. Aston Villa Ladies
A narrow defeat to WSL 1 leaders Chelsea in the Continental Cup midweek ended the Royals 6 game unbeaten run but Kelly Chambers’ side will feel confident they can return to winning ways against Aston Villa as they look to go level on points with Doncaster Rovers Belles, who don’t play this weekend, at the top of the table. Reading have managed to score 5 goals in two games since the departure of star striker Fran Kirby and will no doubt fancy their chances of finding the back of the net against a Villa side who have conceded 18 times so far this season. The Lady Villains also faced WSL 1 opposition in their cup tie and were on the end of a 4-0 thrashing from Bristol Academy who had previously not won a game in 2015.
Sunday
Durham Women FC vs. London Bees
After winning just their second game in the league last time out, London Bees travel to fellow strugglers Durham this weekend who sit just two points above them in the table. The Bees’ top scorers Ashleigh Goddard and Emma Whitter both found themselves on the scoresheet in the midweek cup fixture despite being on the losing side, and will need to perform again in a crucial game for the Bees to make a dent in their huge -20 goal difference tally. Durham ended a 5-game losing streak with victory against bottom of the table Watford last Sunday but still need to tighten up at the back as they had to come from behind against Watford who opened the scoring in the first minute. The Wildcats will, however, take confidence from the reverse fixture earlier in the season in which they were 4-0 victors.
Oxford United Women vs. Millwall Lionesses
A win for Millwall this weekend would see them draw level on points with their opponents Oxford but leapfrog them up in to 6th place on goal difference. United had a poor start to their season but have picked up some results in recent weeks, most notably doing the double over London Bees and drawing with promotion favourites Reading. In contrast, the Lionesses were unbeaten in six games early in their campaign before losing four in the bounce since May. They did however put 5 past London Bees in their Continental Cup tie, 3 of which came from Fliss Gibbons in just her second game for the club.
Yeovil Town Ladies FC vs. Watford Ladies FC
Yeovil welcomed their return to action from the mid-season break with a modest 1-0 win over Millwall Lionesses last weekend but will be hoping for a more convincing performance against bottom of the league Watford who have just four points to their name. The Lady Glovers are third in the table but 9 points behind the leaders Doncaster, however with the Belles not playing this weekend, that deficit can be reduced. If Yeovil were to inflict defeat on struggling Watford it would be their 6th loss in a row.
