CHELSEA 2-1 MANCHESTER CITY (AET)
ARSENAL 7-0 SUNDERLAND
Chelsea and Arsenal will meet in the SSE FA Women’s Cup Final after the Gunners thrashed Sunderland and the Blues beat Manchester City.
A hat trick from Danielle van de Donk helped Arsenal put seven past the Black Cats, including five in the last 15 minutes. The Dutch international put the Gunners in front just before the break, despite the sending off of Emma Mitchell, and Danielle Carter added a second shortly after.
With 74 minutes on the clock, Fara Willams put the tie to bed with a third. Anna Holmes hauled down van de Donk and Williams converted the resulting penalty, with the Sunderland defender receiving her marching orders.
From here, the floodgates opened. Van de Donk added her second with Jordan Nobbs getting in on the act to make it 5-0. A stunning individual performance from van de Donk saw her latch on to Carter’s pass, before Carter herself capped off a comprehensive 7-0 win.
In Staines, a late late winner saw Fran Kirby send the Blues to Wembley in a tie that went to extra time. Manchester City’s Jane Ross had given the visitors the lead, after she poked home from close range, but the prolific Ji So-Yun forced extra time with a superb free kick.
With Chelsea in the ascendency in extra time, Kirby forced home a low finish in the 121st minute to send a large Wheatsheaf Park into delirium.
The two London sides will meet at Wembley on Saturday 14th May.
