Sheffield’s promotion to the Super League confirmed
The FA confirmed on Tuesday that Sheffield FC have met all administrative requirements for their promotion to the FA WSL.
The Yorkshire side earned their place in the WSL 2 next season with a 1-0 win over Southern champions Portsmouth in the first ever Premier League play-off.

Arsenal’s Casey Stoney will be awarded an MBE to her services to football by the Queen upon her return from the 2015 Women’s World Cup with England.
Stoney has over 100 international caps but has also worked tirelessly off the pitch to promote equality within the game, most notably pushing to remove the negative connotations of being an openly gay footballer.

Nigeria’s Ugo Njoku handed ban after World Cup elbow
Nigerian defender Ugo Njoku will be banned for three games following her elbow on Australia’s Samantha Kerr in Friday’s Women’s World Cup Group D fixture.
Nigeria will now face tournament favourites USA in their final group game of the tournament on Wednesday 17 June without the 20-year-old.

France’s Camille Abily will not be punished for her elbow in the face of England’s Laura Bassett during the opening game of Group F in this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The French midfielder was part of the victorious side that beat Mark Sampson’s Lionesses 1-0 on Tuesday.
